The NFL is now offering a “naked” game plan that lets fans watch games on their phones or tablets with no seats, no equipment, no TVs, and no seats.
With the new plan, NFL teams will have more flexibility with game day ticket sales and fan interaction.
The league also said it will provide more flexible ticket sales in the days following the game, which could lead to a better atmosphere and more fans enjoying the game.
With these changes, the NFL will become more like a live sports league, said Paul Tagliabue, executive vice president of ticket sales for the league.
“This will allow us to continue to evolve, to continue delivering value to fans, to keep pace with the pace of technological change, and to continue serving our loyal fan base.”
The NFL says its new plan will take away some of the distractions of a full stadium, and will allow fans to get into the game more easily and safely.
“We know fans like to be entertained and they really want to be able to get to the game in a safe, fun way,” Tagliacabue said.
The NFL will continue to monitor fan behavior, and “make adjustments as necessary to keep our fans safe.”
While many NFL teams have a seating plan in place, the league said they will not require fans to wear helmets.
Some teams have opted to do so, but not all.
The NFL is also taking steps to streamline ticket sales.
NFL tickets will be available at the box office beginning Monday, which means fans will be able more easily find seats to watch the game and will have a better chance of securing seats in the stands.
The NBA and NHL will also have similar streaming plans for their games, and both leagues will be offering their games on mobile devices for fans to stream.
In addition, the team that is playing the game will have its home team’s logo on the back of the ticket, which will help fans find their seats in a timely manner.
The new plan is also expected to help with the issue of seat scarcity.
Fans will still need to find seats in their team’s stadium, but the availability of seats will also improve, said Tagliasabue.
